Book Review:- Mom Says You Need To Be Strong

This is a collection of stories portraying family life. It showcases the various stages of a woman,
originating from the birth of a baby girl until the death of a grandmother. The book moves through the different phases: the raw emotions, the cruel tragedies, the happy times, and the crazy ones.
Since I was a little girl, my mother always told me the same thing. Over and over again. Her words of truth still ring in my head every time I have to pick myself up.
Mom Says You Need To Be Strong!

“Mom Says You Need To Be Strong” is a collection of heartwarming and thought-provoking short stories that take readers on a nostalgic journey from childhood to old age. Each tale serves as a mirror, reflecting on family bonding, struggles, joyous occasions, and stressful situations. Some stories may prompt readers to reflect on their own actions, particularly those moments when the female members of the family were taken for granted.

The book explores themes of growth, resilience, and shared human experiences, though a few stories towards the end feel rushed, lacking the details that could have strengthened the overall plot. Character development varies, with some stories featuring well-crafted characters that resonate with readers, while others felt sketchy.

The author’s writing style is simple yet evocative, allowing readers to vividly picture each scene. The stories touch upon the innocence of a child, the distress of a mother for her newborn, and the support of a husband, creating a nuanced portrayal of familial relationships. Aditi Gupta gracefully addresses the struggles women face in each story, delivering powerful messages with finesse.

While some plots may be predictable due to their familiar themes, the emotional journey presented in the stories is both uplifting and touching. The reader may find themselves overwhelmed with both joy and sadness, making it a roller-coaster ride of emotions.

One suggestion for improvement is that the impactful stories could have been strategically placed at the beginning of the collection to engage readers immediately. Despite this, “Mom Says You Need To Be Strong” remains a good and simple read, making it a satisfactory choice for those seeking inspiration and motivation through short story collections.
